MY SUNDAY BROADCAST [25/04/2021] – NIGERIA IS GONE.

The Nigerian “Banditry conglomerate” took a bolder step further, into the market place of reducing the Nigerian Security Apparatuses to a mere outfit of caricature, on February 26, 2021. This time, it was in Zamfara State, North-West of Nigeria.

And the place where these big boys [it has not been confirmed that women are among the bandits yet] tested their might of supremacy against a State-Nation, that has lost control of securing lives and properties of Nigerians, was at the Government Girls Science School; a boarding school, in a hitherto somber community of the State – Jangebe; also rendered as Dengebe.

Operating with a systematic Supremacy, identified with the Mafioso hitherto, the Bandits took away; with them in that particular voyage, 279 girls – all students of the school, into captivity. Captivity was – and still remains, a deep forest that spreads across all the States in the lucratively rich North-West geopolitical Zone of Nigeria.

Let us elongate the interrogation a little further, more so when the Nigerian Minister of Information; Alhaji Lai Mohammed, told Nigerians, ditto the whole world, that kidnap of school students was not exclusively limited to Nigeria. He sighted a country somewhere in Europe where such was [or, is it?] a regular features. Pardon my inability to recall with exert accuracy the particular country the man mentioned, because his [Lai Mohammed] must not be a lesson for historical keeping.

Oh, the Jangebe abduction was not the first one in the troubled Nigerian Nation. It all started on April 14, 2014, when “only” 276 school girls were kidnapped from a very peaceful Town in the North-East geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. The name of that Town; re-identified since then as “first among equals”, is Chibok. Muhammadu Buhari was not in the saddle of governance in Nigeria then. One Goodluck Ebere Jonathan, from the oil-rich South-South Zone of the country was the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Let us remind ourselves briefly about the “second-in-command” to Chibok’s Scene-One-Film presentation, at Dapchi – another serene village; in Bulabulin-Yunusari Lacal Government area of Yobe State. This happened under the direct Command and Control of Muhammadu Buhari as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, on February 19, 2018, at exactly 5:30 pm, and only 110 school children, between the ages of 11-19 years, were taken away by this newly introduced [as it were then] Kidnapping and Abducting Association of Nigeria.

Much abduction, of Tertiary, Secondary, and even Primary School students, has become regular and daily occurrences in Nigeria ever since that “first among equals” show of shame. The difference between the trajectory of this abnormal, but yet becoming a permanent feature of our national historical life is the pronouncement President Muhammadu Buhari made immediately after the abduction of those 279 school girls from Jangebe, in Zamfara State.

This is what the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria said: “This abduction of the female students in Jangebe will be the last as the federal government has reorganised the security architecture of the country to nib all the atrocities of these criminals.”

With such categorical statement of Authority coming from the Executive President – not a duck-sitting president – a president with all executive powers and functionalities of the Nigerian State, it was expected that end had come to this obnoxious era of kidnap and abduction of school girls and boys by a monster-like gangster in Nigeria.

Such expectation became another tragedy of hope as the Bandits, or kidnappers, have dominated the national crime scene with audacious bravado to the opprobrium of a National Security Apparatus. Two days after Buhari’s pronouncement, the same Zamfara State erupted by unequaled kidnapping and abductions, a tread that keep on spreading all over the North till as this piece is written.

People are still waiting for Buhari to match words with actions. Those waiting on Buhari to bring action to his talk might as well have to wait until eternity. The era of banditry and kidnapping are here for good.

For the Nigerian Nation, the Eagle of tragedy has landed!

And it is for this fact – albeit the domination of Bandits, Kidnappers and Insurgents, over the Nigerian Security Forces that the latest promise of President Muhammadu Buhari; calling on these groups of criminals should be taken with the pinch of the salt. Again, let us see what the President latest statement is all about.

President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the latest killing of tens of people by bandits in Zamfara State. The Nigerian leader warned that “such wanton disregard for life will be brought to an end sooner than later.” President Buhari in a reaction to the incident said that “this insane and persistent violence against innocent people must stop”. He added that “these criminals should stop pushing their luck too far by believing that the government lacks the capacity to crush them.”

Not too many Nigerians would want to go and sleep, thinking that they have a president that will protect them, at their hours of tribulation. That is just our sad situation for now. With the narration so far, we can as well commence our preview for tomorrow’s agenda at Lagos Talks 91.3 FM, starting from 0930 – 1100 hours, when Adu & The Guru shall take command of the Nigerian airwaves – live. Let’s take few of tomorrow’s topical issues as teasers, ipso facto.

“Stop pushing me, I can crush you all – Buhari to bandits”. That was President Buhari warning bandits. Would you believe in him or would you want to swear to oath of trusting what the President said? In some public places in Nigeria, mostly hotels and some event centres, the warning has always remain the same; as it is emphatically written: “cars are parked at owner’s risk”. Let us preview another topic for tomorrow instead.

“NEC backs finance minister, says no money printed” – this was well reported by the Premium Times, in its April 22, 2021, edition. We need to understand the narration properly before arriving tomorrow. Last week, the Executive Governor of Edo State; Godwin Obaseki, alerted Nigerians about the precarious economic situation Nigeria finds itself, by revealing that the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] printed about N60 billion to argument the FAAC sharing of two weeks ago.

This information rattled most Nigerians, who might have found it difficult that our beloved country has moved into the era of Idi Amin Dada Oumee; the foolish and uncultured brutal despotic Military Leader, who ruled over Uganda from 1971 to 1979, who printed money for his country at will, without any economic consideration.

The first person to come out, with astute denial, was the Nigerian Minister of Finance; Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, a woman appointed into that office by President Muhammadu Buhari, on September 14, 2018,  after the exit of Kemi Adeosun. She categorically pronounced it that Godwin Obaseki told lies about what he said.

Nigerians were not at ease in understanding who to believe about the Governor’s revelation, until the Governor of the CBN came out, firing from both sides of his barrel, saying that the money printed; alluding to fact of what Godwin Obaseki alleged, was true. He however interpreted an economic theory that the money printed was a loan to the federal government. He admitted that it has been a long standing practice, which first came into operation, for this government, in 2016.

The case of the fact of what Godwin Obaseki said was laid to rest – albeit, that Godwin Obaseki told Nigerians the truth, and that Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed told Nigerians lie.

The discussion however, changed to nothing but story of absurdity last week Wednesday, at the Federal Executive Council [FEC] meeting at Nigerian seat of power, in Abuja, when, suddenly, the FEC came with a statement of finality on the story, confirming that Godwin Obaseki lied, as per printing of money to argument the FAAC sharing of three weeks back. It was a statement; talking about the announcement credited to Laolu Akande, a spokesperson for the vice president, that embarrassed the international community beyond Nigeria.

While the Nigerian Government presented to the whole world that no money was ever printed, it forgot entirely the admission of Godwin Emefiele at a time, admitting that such money was actually printed. That is just the style of how present day Nigerian Government gets things done. A little lie here and a little lie there!

We shouldn’t be so worried on this subject matter, because it is for reason of this drama of absurdity that l have invited the erudite Development Economist, a transformational Lawyer and a competent Administrator; Frederich Okechukwu Nzeako, to join me in the studio, live, tomorrow to take a holistic look on this challenge – a challenge where taking the whole country for a ride becomes the most convenient suicidal mission to embark upon, by a government voted into office by the Nigerian people.

You will enjoy his presence tomorrow, by the grace of God, because beyond the issue at hand, he would take a deeper analysis on the continued life style of borrowing by the Federal Government. Or don’t you know that the Nigerian Senate has approved another Buhari’s $2.6bn foreign loan request? Hold your breath till tomorrow ipso facto, please.

We are meeting at your golden radio of choice station – Lagos Talks 91.3 FM, tomorrow, by God’s grace.
