MY SUNDAY BROADCAST – AS NIGERIA FALLS APART: IS BUHARI NIGERIA PRESIDENT OR FULANI PRESIDENT?

Is it Nigeria?

Or Fulani Nationality?

Tomorrow, May 3, 2021, is another date that many are waiting for, to keep appointment with Lagos Talks 91.3 FM, when The Guru shall take total command of the Nigerian Airways, starting from 0930 hours, live. It is a segment [Adu & The Guru] that breakdown with ease, to the acceptability of many, those naughty topical issues that are begging to be made understandable, through the deployment of knowledgeable instruments of decoding.

The topic above, heralding today’s discussion [is Buhari Nigeria President or Fulani President?] looks tough enough that many would preferred it not being touched for discussion. It is not that we could easily blame those in that camp – the camp that say don’t touch that topic. Those that will classify the topic as “no go area” would have some reasons, and justifiably – maybe.

Let us crosscheck a few out of many reasons that those in the camp of “no go area” would want to present as securitysafety-valve in taking the decision they have taken. Most of them would have recollected that they voted for Muhammadu Buhari, both in 2015 and 2019, as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

These people may want to recollect that at both elections, Buhari; though a Fulani descendant, contested as a Nigerian, just the same way Olusegun Obasanjo; a Yoruba descendant, or Goodluck Jonathan; an Ijaw descendant, contested as Nigerians, won and became presidents of Nigeria at different times.

These might just be few out of many contending reasons which could hold the argument positively for those in the camp of “no go area”.

Let us take a cursory and inquisitive look at those at the other side of the camp – talking of those that are fully prepared to interrogate the question of the preferred country that Muhammadu Buhari is currently being associated with. This journey of interrogation is necessary because there are always two sides to any given coin.

Those introducing this interrogation of where President Buhari is pinching himself to; in-between Nigeria and Fulani, are not oblivion of the Nigerian General elections of 2015 and 2019. They participated in the elections of 2015 and 2019, just the same way those preferring to remain in the camp of “no go area” did. These, in the camp of interrogators, knew that Muhammadu Buhari contested to be Nigerian president in both elections, just like those in the opposite camp. Why therefore the dichotomy?

A frantic researcher would tell you that students of both camps chose to anchor their voyage chart on the aftermath results of both elections – 2015 and 2019. They; sailors of both camp took the voyage together in the beginning – in the same ship, and agreeably headed towards the same direction, in that historic voyage of discovery.

They started off, in the voyage, singing the same Nigerian National Anthem, waving the same Nigerian flag. But, somewhere along the voyage of sailing, and without announcing it, the Ship Captain; Muhammadu Buhari in this case, detour from the charted voyage sailing  plan, into a different Port, not known to too many of the voyage passengers in the Ship. This detouring into a Port; that was never included in the voyage chart at origin, baffled even the Chief Engineer, who had remained down-below in the engine compartment of the vessel – acting professionally and responsibly, for the smooth sailing of the vessel.

At the “strange Port” other passengers; not included in the passenger-list from Port of origin [departure], boarded the vessel, and quickly the Captain hipped up anchor and commenced sailing again, but towards a different direction.

But more curious than taking a different sailing direction from the one charted from beginning is the language of communication of the new passengers that boarded the Ship at the strange Port. They weren’t speaking Maritime language, or any language within the Shipping Community of the Maritime Sailing World.

This is where confusion invaded the Nigeria Ship, just the same way total confusion invaded the Tower of Babel, as recorded in the Bible book of Genesis Chapter 11, when God decided to bring confusion to scatter the conspiracy of human beings against His original plan for Men [and Women] and the Earth which He created. What did God do? He scattered their language.

And in this Nigerian Ship being analysed, confusion came when onboard passengers and most of the sailors discovered a strange language being spoken by the aftermath passengers that boarded the Ship at that strange Port.

The original Passengers and Sailors that started from Port of Origin, with a professionally articulated Chart of voyage and an assured ETA [Expected Time of Arrival], discovered to their chagrin, that the new language they started hearing from the strange passengers is Fulfulde Language, and all the new passengers that boarded the Ship at the strange Port are all of the Fulani Tribe.

Does this analogy helped in ascertaining the point where the Nigerian People started the question of which of the two – Nigeria or Fulani, Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency protects?

So, let us not heap the blame of calling Muhammadu Buhari “a Fulani President” on Samuel Ortom; the Governor of Benue State, exclusively. He was not the first person to say it in Nigeria. Many Nigerians have been calling the President that name for a long time now, mostly from 2016. And President Muhammadu Buhari himself did not help matters as he has identified with that name, through his body language and other actions for a while now. And it is only President Muhammadu Buhari that can change this narrative of not being a Fulani President – Period.

Let us preview a few of tomorrow’s topics.

We shall be looking at what happened on the floor of the Nigerian Senate last week, where every Senator – across the divide of the two Political Parties, agreed that President Muhammadu Buhari need to declare State of Emergency on Security in Nigeria. Yes, every Senator of the Federal Republic agreed that Buhari has not done enough for Nigeria to be secured, except Senator Remi Tinubu; the wife of former Governor of Lagos State, who objected to the truth being told.

Insecurity: Senator Adeyemi weeps, says Nigeria on ‘fire’, was the way the Senator from Kogi State demonstrated it. Every patriotic Nigerian weeps for Nigeria these days and the President we elected is not to be seen or heard. Tomorrow will reveal much, at Lagos Talks 91.3 FM. Keep the dial on dot please.

Boko Haram now occupying Niger communities – Governor, was the authenticated report of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, of Niger State. He told the whole world that Boko Haram has hoisted its deadly flags in Kaure and Shiroro local government areas of the state. Kaure, which is about 140 kilometers to the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, is just a distance of two hours’ drive. Is there still any Nigerian that would say that the security situation of the country is not precarious, with all these revelations?

There is no doubt that Security of lives and properties has taken flight out of Nigeria and there is no leadership to challenge the challengers. There is a country but there seems to be no leadership. Isn’t this a tragedy of a people – the Nigerian People?

It is for this reason that l am bringing to the studio tomorrow, live, a very senior lecturer of Law at the University of Lagos and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, to give us the legal perspective in dealing with Terror – albeit in the Nigerian situation. Professor Joseph Abugu will help us out tomorrow, I can assure that you shall never be disappointed listening to him.

The Guru will always do his best in finding solutions to these naughty and challenging situations that are putting Nigeria asunder.  It is left for those in place of leadership to adopt the solutions being provided, and this can only happen if the place of leadership is not currently vacant in present day Nigeria.

You shall be having a very lucid Historical Perspective, informed Periscope and well lubricated Knowledge Drop tomorrow, by the grace of God.

I do enjoy the manner in which you have framed this particular challenge and it does indeed give me personally some fodder for thought. On the other hand, coming from everything that I have experienced, I only hope when other comments pack on that people today remain on point and not get started on a tirade of the news du jour. Anyway, thank you for this excellent point and although I do not necessarily agree with it in totality, I value your point of view.
