You are welcome to another week, another day and another Monday of June 22, 2020, of an explosive encounter with The Guru at Lagos Talk 91.3 FM, from 09:30-11am live, in his usual scintillating review of topical issues. As usual, you shall never be disappointed as you stay connected. The teasers? Yes, let’s fly.
The Nigerian Army set up a court martial to try one, just one Major General (of all the lots), for allegedly stealing “just a little” sum of money. The Military Court Marshal found General Hakeem Otiki guilty of stealing just Four Hundred Million Naira only (is that not how it is written on cheque leaf, even if the amount on the cheque is trillions?). Why didn’t the former General Officer Commanding the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army do a better clearing job of the “whole transaction”? In an era where millions in America Dollars are properties of take away for “the big boys”, as long as it could be connected to fighting Boko Haram, Insurgence, Banditry or similar operations, this guy limited himself to only N400m. No wonder he was found “guilty as charged”.
But the story is more than the charges and the judgment. You will have details tomorrow.
Nigerian Northern Elders told President Muhammadu Buhari (one of their own) that, as far as matters of security are concerned, he has failed the North (or do they mean Nigeria?). Those Elders, led by the erudite Professor Ango Abdullahi; who have always been very faithful and religious in promoting and protecting the homogenous interests of the North, this time, found Muhammadu Buhari guilty of “having lost the battle to Banditry and criminality”.
Buhari’s presidency managers – small men with small minds and brains- represented by Femi Adeshina (on this occasion), rebuked the Northern Elders, with almost the same velocity with which the late Senator Chuba Okadigbo rebuked Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1979. Let me not go on comparative analysis here for fear of “tomorrow”.
Then a coalition of Northern Groups; a coalition made up of more than 10 Groups of youths and vibrantly resourceful people, rose astutely, condemning President Buhari and his Service Chiefs for failing to stop Banditry and all the remaining wars in the North. The Coalition went on peaceful protests, both in Katsina and in Abuja, with ultimatum of 14 days for Buhari to put things in order, otherwise . . .
And the Buhari government has gone out with iron hand against these peaceful talkers and protesters from the North. It seems things are spilling out of hand for Buhari and his Northern partners gradually.
What did the Reverend Holy Keeper of the Islamic Caliphate Seal – The Sultan of Sokoto, tell Buhari on this matter?
We shall meet tomorrow, by the grace of God.
Our Classical Story for tomorrow, caption “Arewa Youths give FG 14 days ultimatum to end insecurity or face mass action”, enumerates more on the above subject matter. Buhari government is not having respite from the home fronts, it seems.
And for the dethroned Emir of Kano; Lamido Sanusi Lamido, the battle for his travails are far from being over. The Kano State Governor; Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has just been overheard, saying the probe of the former Emir has just begun. Some more waters for the former CBN Governor to cross therefore. Will the flood of the waters sweep him away into the Ocean of life? Only time will tell.
Then listen to this: Abubakar Malami allegedly dislodged the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police from prosecuting the Taraba killing of police by soldiers, during the arrest of the notorious kidnapping kingpin – Wadume, so that he could remove involved soldiers from the trial. The Guru is not the one saying so but evidences on ground are speaking voluminously on the issue tagged “man’s cruelty against man”.
I have always said it that “Politics”, in my personal interpretation, “is a game of Manipulation and Permutation”. Can you beat what is happening in Edo State’s political arena? The game there is just metamorphosing with renewable intrigues. I will rather take the advice of the late Esa-Oke Cicero; that eloquently legal luminary, referred to as Golden Voice of Africa – Chief Bola Ige, on the Edo State theatre of political operations.
He called it “sit down look”.
I am bringing some people to the studio tomorrow, all things being equal – regard it as promise on suspension. You can laugh please.
