My Sunday Broadcast – preview events for tomorrow at Lagos Talks 91.3 FM.

If Tomorrow Comes is a book authored by  that scintillating and classical writer – Sidney Sheldon; a man also dubbed as Master of The Game (actually one of his books is captioned Master of The Game). He wrote The Other Side of Midnight and The Doomsday Conspiracy, amongst many others. He happened to be one of my models within the industry of writers around the globe. Today, I cut him out for a preamble in launching into the narration of Nigeria’s tomorrow – if it will ever come, and cross to the other side of the country’s midnight, in view of the inevitable larger doomsday conspiracy against us – Nigerians.

Starting from Tuesday, September 1, 2020,  and into the next 3 months to the end of the year, in other to explore into the type of Nigeria’s Tomorrow; that may come or not to come, The Guru; with help of some “friends & brothers” from the “Core North”, shall be reaching out to some fundamental stakeholders in the land of Arewa, with the hope of finding solution to the Nigerian Question.
This journey is necessary and compulsory. I will call it voyage of discovery. It shall be a discovery into Nigeria’s Tomorrow, The Other Side of Nigeria’s Midnight and identifying the great Doomsday Conspiracy against our country.
We need to do this, in a surreptitious way of course (because it cannot be done in Femi Fani-Kayode’s way of public project inspection across some geopolitical zones), if Nigeria must survive as a country. Otherwise, the days may not be too long for us arriving Chinua Achebe’s narration of “There was a Country”. God forbid bad thing! May there still remain a country called Nigeria at the Other Side of Its Midnight – if its Tomorrow will come.
We are therefore starting exposition of this narrative as from tomorrow, Monday, August 31, 2020, at Lagos Talks 91.3 FM, when Sadiq & The Guru take command of the Nigerian Airwaves live, from 0930-1100 hours, at the review of topical issues. Let’s have a glimpse of teasers please.
Finding on NDDC: ‘N250bn can’t be reconciled, 22 projects duplicated, N9.2bn meant for jobs in 9 Stats missing’, so reported the Vanguard Newspaper. This shouldn’t surprise most of us any more. Or are you still one of those that is still in shock over the level of corruption crunching Nigeria to death? If you are one, then you must be a stranger in Jerusalem. The irony of this concerted effort in “fighting corruption to a standstill” by Muhammadu Buhari, is that about 98% of Nigerians don’t even know the rules applicable at the theater of this war.
Take the case of the NDDC for example. NDDC has been deadly rotten over the years until President Buhari beamed his touch-light of battle at it, with instruction for forensic auditing, and he nominated Board Members for Senate’s confirmation. Senate confirmed the Board Members for President Buhari’s inauguration of the Board. Suddenly, the President did the abnormal by jettisoning inauguration of the Board, and instead, approved an illegal Interim Management Committee; appointed by his Minister, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to continue at NDDC. The news of unimaginable corruption of billions of Naira broke against the IMC. The Nigerian Senate, after investigating the allegations against the NDDC called on President Buhari to sack the NDDC. The President refused adhering to the Senate’s call, and instead moved ahead in approving about N20bn the Minister demanded for – presumably to investigate the same  NDDC. Meanwhile, Minister Akpabio, while testifying before the National Assembly investigative Panel to the NDDC garbage of corruption, audaciously revealed that most members of the National Assembly were Co-conspirators to the huge mountain of corruption in the place. The Honourable (or dis-Honourable?) Members threatened brimstones and fire, and months after, nothing has come out of the fuse.
The big questions today are: Who is fighting corruption? Is it the President, who is using an illegal IMC to quench corruption? Is it the Minister; an appointee of the President, that we all know who he is? Or is it the National Assembly that has been blackmailed into submission of quietness? Can we see a sea of confusion where both the Nigerian National Assembly and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are in total contradictory ways in the fight against corruption? Can a House against itself ever stand?
And what is happening at the NDDC is being replicated all over the country.
Nigerian Defense Minister vowed to reposition national Security architecture, so reported the Premium Times. May God help Nigeria, is a prayer you must say vigorously if you know this your Minister of Defense; retired Major General Bashir Magashi, well enough. In case you don’t know him, all you need doing is researching into the same Premium Times for a back-check on the man. Do that so that you can tell Nigerians what to expect of him in repositioning the Nigerian Security architecture.
Kano elders petition Buhari, others over Ganduje’s move to take loan from China. Why are these elders from Kano troubling “innocent man like Dr Abdullahi Ganduje; a man with pathological hatred for corruption”. Or could it be that the man was once “technologically cloned”, according to President Buhari when he was defending the Governor, on the day he was caught with Dollars, that the elders would be thinking so negatively of this “respected man of God”?
Our Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka is saying that the Federal Government and the National Assembly are bringing rejected Water Bill through the back door. What is so obnoxious about this Water Bill; once rejected by the Nigerian people, that the Government and our Representatives at the National Assembly are re-introducing through the back windows of those hallow chambers? Let tomorrow comes.
There are more coming to the table of discussion tomorrow at your radio station of choice – Lagos Talks 91.3 FM.
Your Historical Perspective is in place for you. We are also continuing with The Miracle of Dunkirk in our Knowledge Dropbox tomorrow. Let’s keep a date ipso facto.
