We have a date; albeit our usual weekly community square meeting, tomorrow, Monday, October 12, 2020, at Lagos Talks 91.3 FM, live, starting from 0930 hours prompt, when Sadiq & The Guru shall embark on topical review of issues. This weekly Radio program is turning to be one of the largest community gathering of people around the globe – courtesy of online possibilities. There are more than 10 million audience in this unified community of happy people, listening attentively, and as well participating fervently, in this knowledge driven environment. I want to appreciate you for being one of them.
Without being told, most of us are aware of the topical issues dominating the Nigerian climate presently. Ondo State 2020 is come and gone, with losers and winners separated from each other – courtesy of the Ondo electorate. While winners are dancing scientifically to the Alagbaka Government House, for continuation of feasting with the Ondo People’s money (or do you think these politicians are spending their personal monies in things like this?), the losers are returning back to their tents, heads bowed, hearts racing, without jubilating companions – just the way of failing, as failure has no relationship. It means that the Ondo election is no more the hottest issue in Nigeria today.
Let us turn our attention to real topical issue in town – permit me to call it The Hottest Topical Issue Of Our Time. And this the massive protest against the notorious Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS or FSARS) of the Nigeria Police Force. The Nigerian People pinched their collective Will against a notoriously killers’s squad; a squad paid and sustained by the people’s money. And at the end, the people’s will prevailed. To me, on this subject matter, democracy is gradually coming home to roust – just like the chicken does.
But l must warn that the fact of disbanding the SARS, by the Inspector General of Police, is not evidence that the Nigerian People are in the land of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s Uhuru yet. What the Nigerian People won, by today’s disbanding of SARS, according to the announcement of the IGP, is just a battle. And there are many battles in any given War. Will the Nigerian People win the war against a Police Force established to “brutalized it’s own people?” Only time will tell.
Let us preview some of the events that are coming up for discussion tomorrow.
“Police can’t scrap SARS, says Force HQ”, according to Compol Frank Mba and Azeez Fashola; aka Naira Marley, as reported by the media. This statement has been overturned already as the Inspector General of Police has succumbed to the collective Will of the Nigerian People by disbanding SARS (and maybe FSARS too).
I shall comment more on the role-function at the formative stage of the Nigeria Police Force in 1861, when it was known and called Consular Constabulary and when it changed to Hausa Constabulary in 1883, tomorrow. You may really want to know why the Nigeria (not Nigerian) Police was formed and once you know, you will have no reason not to understand why it shall remains, for a long time to come, a killing squad of the Nigerian People. What you shall be hearing tomorrow are raw materials of facts. May God preserve us into tomorrow and beyond.
You remember Peter Obi – His Excellency, the former Governor of Anambra State; an astute and erudite economist – a recognized resourceful administrator of distinction. He has come with an advice to the Federal Government. “Borrow ideas from China, not money”. I think very strongly that the Federal Government better listen to him. Ditto State Governments. We shall discuss this tomorrow too.
“Millions of Nigerians living in extreme poverty – Osinbajo cries out”, according to the Daily Post. If this is coming from the Vice-President of the Federal Republic, then it will be good for us to listen and decode the uncoded language for our common benefits. Nigerian People are dying, more of maladministration that is pushed to the sky by corruption than lack of resources. When shall this country called Nigeria have leaders in place of dealers?
Oh God, how much longer shall you leave your people in the hands of terrible predators?
For now, l need to thank the Vice-President for bringing this issue to the front burner of a people – majority, which is more than 90%; that are being mauled to death by a few elitist rogues, which is less than 10% of the population.
Clamour for restructuring of the Nigerian Federation is no more limited to the exclusivities of Southern Nigeria and the Middle-Belt, as the Northern Elders Forum have joined the armada. If there is any geographical zone that is not coming into the Nigerian-speed-gathering-vehicle of restructuring yet, it probably would be the Caliphate of the Fulani Oligarchy and its crony – the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore. And who knows . . .
There is a little setback on my endeavours in making incursion “into the North”, as my Principals and Managers of this breathtaking mission want me to remain “on shore till early 2021”. Isn’t 2021 just around the corner? May God keep us alive.
Your Historical Perspective and Knowledge Dropbox are coming richer tomorrow, by the grace of God.
