My Sunday Broadcast: The way the Nigerian cookie crumbles

Tomorrow is Monday, March 28, 2022, and it shall be a very interesting day, by the special grace of God, at the Lagos Talks 91.3 FM studio, when The Guru comes on air, starting from 0930 hours, discussing topical issues. And there are many issues slated for discussion in our Menu. Let us preview a few of them as teasers.

I was billionaire at 25, Umahi blasts Wike, calls for public debate. This was David Nweze Umahi; the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State – South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria, responding to the Ezenwo Nyeson Wike; Executive Governor of Rivers State, in the South-South geopolitical.

The reason for the altercation between the two gentlemen is well known to all and it has to do with a recent court’s judgement on the Ebonyi Governor, pronouncing that by the factor of him decamping from the Political Party [PDP] that gathered the electorate’s vote which made him a governor in 2019, to the ruling political Party [APC], he could no more enjoy being a governor. The court’s judgement removed him from office as Governor of Ebonyi State, because, according to the learned Judge, “votes belonged to Political Party that fielded a candidate and not the candidate that stood in the election”.

We are not looking at the validity of the judgement tomorrow because the matter is taking its normal course of action through the process of appellation. What we shall be looking upon tomorrow is Dave Umahi’s claim that he “was already a Billionaire at the age of 25 years”. We need to interrogate this claim of a man who said he crossed the political carpet – as it is called in Nigeria, for the interest of Igbo tribe of Nigeria.

Dave Umahi was born on January 1, 1964, while another recording put his date of birth on July 25, 1963, meaning he must be 58 years old this year of 2022, if we will run with the July 25, 1963, date of birth. If he became a billionaire – not a millionaire [a mighty and extraordinary feat, one would say] at the age of 25 years, we therefore need to crosscheck some salient facts about his life in order to establish this narration.

Fact number one, if the man became a billionaire at the age of 25, it means he attained that feat in 1988. Huh, did he go to school at all and what business was he doing while he was in school? Or could his wealth have come from inheritance?

Dave Umahi attended Umunaga Primary School, Uburu between 1971 and 1977 and obtained his First Leaving School Certificate with Distinction. He attended Ishiagu High School between 1978 and 1979, and then moved to prestigious Government Secondary School Afikpo, where he completed his Secondary Education. After his secondary school, Dave got admission into Enugu State University of Science and Technology where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from 1982 to 1987. After his University education, Engr. Dave Umahi, underwent the compulsory one year National Youth Service (NYSC) scheme between 1988 and 1989, which he did at SAIPEM SPA in Benin City, Edo State.

From above, we now have on facts of record that he finished National Youth Service in 1986. It means therefore that he became a billionaire one year before he finished his national service to the Nation. Won’t you say kudos? You can also help us with the balance of the interrogation as we expand the frontal of this mystery tomorrow morning.

Police officers reject N300, 000 bribes; return N600, 000 paid into account. At a time that corruption succeeded, not only killing Nigeria, but adequately giving Nigeria an inglorious and unbefitting burial in an unknown and unmarked grave, there is still a man from this country that refused bribe of this amount and even refunding the sum of N600,000 paid into his account and this person is a Policeman.

How much of the Nigeria Police Force officers; mostly at the Rank and File level salary and remuneration do you know? A Policeman manifesting this great courage in taking such maverick stand against corruption at a time Nigerian leaders are stealing everything available from the poorest of the society?

The Guru will try his very best in celebrating this latest wonder of a modern Nigeria. Let us discuss and choosing together tomorrow, the best way to celebrate this Angel from Heaven. What l can assure all is that I am reaching out to the Inspector General of the Nigeria Police Force for the most appropriate synergy of celebrating this Policeman.

Let us preview one more item more before drawing the curtain on today’s discussion. And this may not be the best item you might want to review because it is not palatable at all. As unattractive as the story is, we just have to look at it, review it and agree on the ruthless destructive dimension of what some politicians have done to Nigeria.

Most unfortunate still, is that these crops of dangerous politicians are about to vacate the scene, without the expectation of them taking away from this country the evil they planted. Even if they want to, they would not be able to do so again.

And this is the full trajectory of how the Nigerian cookie crumbles.

BREAKING: Bandits storm Kaduna Airport, kill one, stop aircraft from taking off. This is happening in the same Kaduna State – a State where Bandits; which the Federal Government refused to brand as Terrorists, despite the judicial pronouncement of Justice Taiwo Taiwo on that historical judgement of Friday, November 26, 2021, have taken over supremacy. The State where Nasir El-Rufai; a governor that paraded himself with invitation of Fulani bandits “to come over” some years back, holds way still.

Does this film of horror not a seemingly an introduction to a caption that might be reading something like “THE TERRORISTS [bandits in the language of the Nigerian government} HAVE LANDED”?

Can President Muhammadu Buhari Government pull this handwriting of Terrorists taking over reign of governmental powers in Nigeria back? Some of us doubt though only time may tell.

However, for now, this is the way the Nigerian cookie crumbles, and unfortunately so.
